The dye is cast
I just bought my one-way ticket to Tahiti. I'm flying out of San Francisco on the night of Friday, July 20, staying overnight in Los Angeles, and then flying from LA to Tahiti at 1 pm the next day. The overnight in LA was not something I intended to do, but it was the itinerary Expedia suggested, and it lets me see Dan before I leave. The reality of this has yet to hit me. I am moving overseas. Again. To a small tropical island of 10,000 people. It will be fun, but I have a lot of preparation to do between now and then.
Also, I have been asked to give a speech at Nakamura-san's wedding next week, since I am "coming from far away". I am looking forward to this, although my Japanese has been getting rather odd recently from lack of use.

You're going to have so much writing material out there, David! Sojourning in Tahiti was enough to make Gauguin famous.
