Back East

I've just finished packing to head back East for the next week, for my friend Drew's wedding in New Hampshire, revisiting a friend I haven't seen since college in Montréal, and two days at Harvard, which, as I might expect, are turning into work-related stuff. Five years since graduation, among the few people I know back in Cambridge are ones with tenure.

I'm still sick of travel, but if I put that aside, I am really looking forward to the trip, particularly seeing so many old college friends at the wedding. I've got mixed feelings about Boston itself, but I've only been back once since graduation (that was when I was living in Japan--it was right after the Red Sox victory, and Kerry's loss, so I had seen a lot of Boston on NHK), so it is about time to revisit. Since starting at Berkeley, however, I've realized I'm definitely a West Coast person more than an East Coast person, but I remember that Boston has picturesque buildings and good beer, and the leaves should be getting pretty around now in New Hampshire.
